Engines

The contemporary Hyundai ix20 is fitted with one of three different engine varieties, with the most popular likely to be the 1.4 litre petrol and turbo-diesel options.  A 1.6 litre petrol engine is also available, but given that this comes with a traditional four-speed transmission, albeit automatic, this option may not appeal to everyone.  The 1.4 litre engines produce a lively enough performance for a city drive however, and the turbo-diesel version in particular gives sufficient acceleration to give a satisfying ride.

Safety

As with other models from Hyundai, the ix20 provides an excellent safety standard, with active and passive safety technologies fully incorporated into the design.  ABS braking and hill-start assist are provided as standard, and as this particular model of Hyundai has been road-tested in the United Kingdom, the right-hand drive model is calibrated well to British roads.  As a super-mini MPV, the Hyundai ix20 provides a full range of the safety features that drivers can expect for a city run-about, and excels in its class in this respect.

Performance

Given the road testing that has been carried out in the United Kingdom, and the subsequent refinements to the suspension, together with the use of deep-walled tyres, the Hyundai ix20 provides a comfortable ride that lets through fewer of the smaller bumps than other Hyundai models, which have been adapted for the conditions in other countries.  Together with accurate steering and smooth cornering, these design improvements result in a car that handles well wherever you go.

Economy

With a target fuel economy of 65 miles per gallon, the economy of running a Hyundai ix20 is competitive.  In part, this is due to a number of built-in features that enhance the economic and environmental credentials of the model.  An alternator management system and the technology of Integrated Stop and Go are among these penny-saving additions.

Exterior

The word on most people’s lips in relation to the design of the Hyundai ix20 is ‘fluid’, and this stems from the deliberately ‘fluidic sculpture’ of the classy external shaping.  The design has a clear character, with a distinct touch of the dynamic, making the overall look attractive to the eye.

Interior

Hyundai iX20 Interior

The interior of the car is also designed to be ‘fluidic’, and the dynamism of the exterior is reflected in similar touches on the inside of the car.  With added cabin space for passenger leg room, and good luggage capacity, the Hyundai ix20 comes across as a comfortable and affordable super-mini MPV.
